The Community Fund

Who gets trained shapes who gets care.

The Community Fund helps sponsor or trainings, fellowships, and advanced education at the Ruby Institute so cost isn't a limiting factor.

WHY THE FUND EXISTS

Specialized, high-quality training is expensive.

For a lot of people, cost is the thing standing between them and the next step, whether that's a one-day training or a decision about going back to school.

Those people are often the ones communities need most in the room: clinicians who share their clients' histories and who stay in places where care is hard to find.

The fund exists so their path into this work doesn't depend on what they can spare.

Training costs more than tuition alone

The fee to register is only part of the cost. People also give up:

  • Income from hours not working

  • Childcare and caregiving coverage

  • Money that's already promised to their community

  • Energy, which is often in short supply for anyone doing this work

HOW IT WORKS

We put our own money in first

Before we ask anyone else to give, 5% of Ruby Institute profits go into the fund. Community members and fellow trainers add to it from there. The fund is a set pool of money. When it's empty, we stop taking applications until it's replenished.
